TO MĀPUA

A self-guided 46km ride from Kaiteriteri to Māpua through coastline, orchards, vineyards, hop fields and Nelson Tasman’s local flavours.

This scenic day blends relaxed coastal riding with rolling countryside and food-and-drink stops between Kaiteretere and Māpua. Relax and enjoy Mapua Wharf before a hopping on our return shuttle to Kaiteretere.

What to expect

• A self-guided 46 km ride from Kaiteretere to Māpua along the Great Taste Trail, at your own pace with as many stops as you like
• Coastal views of golden beaches, estuaries and sparkling Tasman Bay
• Rolling countryside through orchards, vineyards and the green hop gardens around Motueka
• Local flavours along the way, including a fresh fruit ice cream stop and an artisan lunch
• Charming small towns, including Motueka and the waterfront village of Māpua
• A finish at Māpua Wharf, with time to enjoy its cafés, galleries and artisan studios
• Easy, mostly flat riding suited to most fitness levels, with e-bikes available
• A tour briefing, plus digital and paper maps, with our favourite stops, detours and points of interest highlighted
• Return Shuttle to Kaiteretere included. Pick up in Mapua at 3pm

Bikes, equipment and support

Our Kaiteretere base has a range of bikes to choose from, including hardtail mountain bikes, which are great for the Great Taste Trail, plus full-suspension mountain bikes. We also have a limited number of low-step e-bikes, so book early if you’d like one.

Every bike comes with a helmet, lock and repair kit. We’ll confirm the most suitable bikes for your group when you book.
